Get ready for an adventure-filled update, folks! The iconic Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland Park has brought back its thrilling bridge effect, after a long hiatus.
For those who don't know, this effect is a real crowd-pleaser. As the ride vehicles pause on the rope bridge, right in front of Mara's head, guests experience the heart-stopping sensation of the bridge collapsing beneath them. It's an intense moment that leaves riders on the edge of their seats.
But here's the catch: the bridge itself doesn't actually move. It's all thanks to the clever use of hydraulics and the clever dropping of ropes on the sides. For a while, this effect was broken or inactive, leaving many fans disappointed. But now, the ropes are back in action, enhancing the illusion and making the experience even more immersive.
We were thrilled to confirm that the effect was working again on January 26th. Check out our video below to see it in action!
Indiana Jones Adventure has a rich history of complex effects and refurbishments. It frequently closes for maintenance, sometimes just for a few days, and sometimes for months. The attraction is packed with intricate details and effects that require constant attention and upkeep. Some effects have even been fully replaced by projections over the years.
A 2023 refurbishment brought back several beloved effects and introduced a brand new scene. You can watch our POV video from that refurbishment below to see the changes.
The Temple of the Forbidden Eye opened its doors at Disneyland Park way back in 1995. A second version, titled Temple of the Crystal Skull, followed suit at Tokyo DisneySea in 2001. While the attractions are nearly identical, the story differs slightly, with one set in Mexico and the other in India.
And this is the part most people miss: a brand new Indiana Jones ride is coming to Disney World! DINOSAUR, a beloved attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom, will be transformed into a third Indy adventure. The ride system and track will remain largely the same, but the storyline will be a fresh take, set in a Mayan temple to fit the Tropical Americas land.
Indiana Jones will venture into the temple, drawn by tales of a mythical creature. Construction walls in DinoLand already hint at this new direction, featuring bat-like creatures that resemble Camazotz, spirits from Maya mythology.
